My Approach to Supervision

I offer supervision to psychotherapists of various theoretical orientations, as well as to psychoanalysts in training. My approach to supervision involves expanding your awareness of the relational patterns between you and your patient, and how you affect each other at every moment of your interaction together. This expanded awareness enhances your ability to understand your patient and respond empathically to her. The supervisory relationship itself may at times be the focus of attention, especially since it can parallel the treatment process in terms of the subjective experiences of the two participants.
